NBA fines Gobert $75,000 for making another money gesture in frustration over a foul call NEW YORK (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves center  Rudy Gobert  was fined $75,000 by the  NBA  on Tuesday for another “inappropriate and unprofessional gesture” that suggested a lack of integrity with the league and its game officials. Gobert glanced down and rubbed both thumbs together with his fingers as he walked up the court in frustration over a foul call in the fourth quarter of Minnesota’s loss to Denver in  Game 4  of their Western Conference semifinal series on Sunday. Gobert had just been whistled for an offensive foul when the TNT broadcast showed him making the money-counting sign to himself. Executive vice president of basketball operations Joe Dumars said the fine “took into account Gobert’s history of improper conduct toward game officials.” Two months ago during a regular season game at Cleveland, Gobert was  called for a technical  after pi...

Here is what we learned from Inter Miami’s 3-2 come-from-behind road win over Montreal

Here is what we learned from Inter Miami’s 3-2 come-from-behind road win over Montreal Stop us if you’ve heard this story line before: Inter Miami falls behind early, the opposing team celebrates, feels good about its chances of knocking Lionel Messi and his pink-clad teammates off the MLS pedestal; and then, in the blink of an eye,  Miami scores the equalizer, makes a few sublime passes and clinical finishes, and goes on to win. It happened for the fifth game in a row Saturday night, as Inter Miami trailed CF Montreal 2-0 on the road after 43 minutes and rallied for a 3-2 victory.  With the win, Miami remained atop the MLS Eastern Conference and Supporters Shield race with 27 points on eight wins, two losses and three ties.  Inter Miami also leads the league with 35 goals, 14 more than second-place Los Angeles Galaxy and Philadelphia Union. Once again, Miami coach Tata Martino was asked whether it concerned him that his team has made a habit of falling behind i...

Doctor Who Series 14 Episode 2 Review: The Devil’s Chord

Doctor Who Series 14 Episode 2 Review: The Devil’s Chord The new era has arrived, bringing with it unforgettable new villain Maestro. SPOILERS. WARNING: THIS  DOCTOR WHO  REVIEW CONTAINS PLOT SPOILERS. To use some technical musical terminology – this one’s a banger. Like most fans, I was very intrigued when I heard that Russell T Davies would be returning as showrunner.  Having decisively brought  Doctor Who  into the 21 st  century, remade it in his own image and delivered a bona fide cultural phenomenon, Davies had subsequently gone on to make several other successful shows. It’s not like he  needed  to come back. He had nothing to prove.   So it seemed safe to assume that if he was going return, it was because he had new ideas, new things he wanted to say, new experiments he was hungry to try out. That was an exciting prospect. The Tennant specials had swagger, but they were something of a victory lap – comfortable 60 t...

1 dead after catastrophic tornado levels Barnsdall, Oklahoma: 'Total destruction' BARNSDALL, Okla.  – One person has died after a devastating  tornado  destroyed homes and toppled power lines as it ripped through a small town northeast of  Oklahoma City  on Monday evening. The National Weather Service reported that  Barnsdall , a town of about 1,000 people located a 40-minute drive north of  Tulsa , was leveled shortly after 9:30 p.m. A storm survey team found damage Tuesday that is consistent with at least an EF-4 strength tornado on the  Enhanced Fujita Scale . It was the second tornado to hit the town in five weeks. "It just hit all of a sudden," said Joy King, who felt pressure in her ears, which intensified into a loud noise. The storm cellar door she was hiding in then blew open, and debris started to fly everywhere. "I even had it latched to a bolt in the floor, and it just ripped it off." Barnsdall Mayor Johnny Kelley said the ...

Vogue Williams’ guide to summery garden furniture

Vogue Williams’ guide to summery garden furniture For the last two years, I have been threatening to change our garden furniture but it’s a big expense and ours is still very much functional. We live in a block of apartments and our neighbours is a lot nicer than ours so naturally I want in, I’m jealous of their chairs! I actually found the exact set my neighbour has and I am so tempted to get the sofa version.  The set is from Oka which you can get online but they also have a gorgeous shop near my house that I wander around wanting everything. I love the cream colour with the light wood, it feels very French chic.  My ideal sofa set would be from Suns Lifestyle  but they are at the very top end price-wise – I have seen them in real life and the quality is brilliant. If you want something more affordable I would go with Easy Living or  JYSK , they have some seriously stylish pieces at the moment.
